Glazing Pottery Workshop: Piece Included! 10/7 ; 7-9pm

  • Pudgy's Place 119R Foster Street Peabody, MA, 01960 United States (map)

This glazing seminar is intended for all levels: no experience through advanced. Handmade pottery from your instructor, Shahane, will be ready-made and bisqued ahead of time, ready for you to glaze. However, if you happen to have cone 6 pottery and would like to bring your work to glaze, you may do so. We are going to cover the following:

  • Basics of brush and dip application.

  • Gauging how much or little glaze to apply

  • Underglaze: what it is, when to apply it, and restrictions.

  • Fun stuff! Wax and tape resist, layering, etc.

  • Q&A session.

You'll be guided through each step with demos, instructions, and personalized tips in an encouraging space :) The photos in this listing are cauldrons Shahane has made in the past.

Not only do you get a handmade piece, but you get to design it and customize it however you'd like! Each piece will vary.

Your finished cauldron will be ready for pick up approximately 2 weeks after the event (or can be shipped to you for an additional $10 fee). Pottery/ceramics needs to be fired in a kiln twice (once for bisque and the second for glaze); however, since we will be working with cauldrons that have already gone through the bisque process, it'll be a quicker turnaround time. Once glaze-fired, the pieces will be non-toxic and safe to use for drinking and eating; they can be put in the dishwasher and microwave, but NOT in or on the stove. Both firings, materials, and mug are included in the workshop fee!

Classes and workshops are open to anyone over the age of 10 years old; any person under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
