Intermediate Pottery Workshop - Enclosed and Collard forms! (10/21; 7-9pm)

  • Pudgy's Place 119R Foster Street Peabody, MA, 01960 United States (map)

In this pottery workshop, you'll learn how to create a narrow bottle neck or completely enclose a form while wheel throwing. We will cover wedging, centering (coning up and down), opening, and shaping. You'll be guided through each step with demos, instructions, and personalized tips in an encouraging space! I will allow you to tell me your goal shape and we will work towards how you could work towards that and provide helpful tips for long-term practice.

The goals for the night are to explore new forms, have fun, and push your limits! Ceramics is one of the most meditative mediums, connecting us with ourselves, the earth, and all elements. Go ahead and enjoy a night out full of good vibes, goofiness, and mud! :)

Your pieces will be ready for pick up approximately 3-4 weeks after the event (or can be shipped to you for an additional fee). Pottery/ceramics needs to be fired in a kiln twice (once for bisque and the second for glaze) which takes multiple days. Once glaze fired, the pieces will be non-toxic and safe to use for drinking, and eating; they can be put in the dishwasher and microwave but NOT in or on the stove. Both firings are included in the workshop fee and you get to pick how you want your piece to be glazed (colored) in the end! *If you would like to glaze your piece in your own time, please email us!

All classes and workshops are open to anyone over the age of 10 years old, any person under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Note: Shahane will be the instructor! She has taught pottery since 2016, got her BFA in ceramic arts in 2015 with a double minor in art history and psychology, and owns Pudgy's Place with her husband Phillip :)
